Cathedral edges Enterprise

Enterprise suffered their second straight loss of the season Saturday after Natchez Cathedral rallied back in the sixth inning to score six runs to beat the Jackets 9-7 in Loyd Star’s Classic tournament.
“We made a big improvement from Game One to Game Two,” said Enterprise coach Cass Brister. “We fought hard to keep ourselves in the game, but we gave up to many walks that hurt us in the end. A lot good positives can come from this game. We have four days to prepare for our next game. We must focus and make the improvements needed to be successful.”
The Jackets (0-2) will resume action Friday as they return to Loyd Star to participate in the Lincoln County Invitational tournament. Enterprise will face South Pike, starting at 6 p.m.

The Jackets were the first to runs on the scoreboard as they plated five runs in the bottom of the second inning and add another run in the third inning.
Cathedral would score two runs in the top of third inning, before exploding in the sixth inning with six more runs to take the lead at 8-6. Both teams would score one each in the seventh inning as Cathedral prevails 9-7.
Reed White was the winning pitcher for the Green Wave with two strikeouts and six walks.
Reese Brocato suffered the setback on the mound for the Jackets with no strikeouts and two walks.
Austin Fugler and Landon Gartman were the top hitters for Enterprise with a double and a single each. Brady Watts, Chase Owens and Brocato provided a single each.
Jardarius Anderson paced the Green Wave’s offense with a home run. Colter Cauthen contributed two singles. Pate Shirley hit a double. Gabe Smith, Jacob Jenkins and White had a single each.
