Funeral services for Lavelle Ratliff Douglas of Brookhaven are Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Strong Hope Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Strong Hope and Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, from 1 p.m. until time of services.
Mrs. Douglas, 89, died Feb. 17, 2016, at her residence. She was born on Aug. 14, 1926, to John Benford Ratliff and Minnie Lee Farrah Ratliff.
Mrs. Douglas was a retired assistant teacher and bus driver and was a member of Central Baptist Church. She was also part of the American Legion Auxiliary and Walk to Emmaus.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Martin L. Douglas; son, James Anthony “Tony” Douglas; parents, John and Minnie Ratliff; sister, Katherine Ratliff Harrington; brothers, John “Buddy” Ratliff and Robert Higdon Ratliff.
Survivors are her son, Kenneth W. Douglas; daughters, Joan Dodd and husband, Billy, and Janet Blackmon and husband, Steve; seven grandchildren, Billy Dodd Jr. and wife, Lisa, Sherri Dodd Ethridge and husband, Chris, Christy Douglas, Chad Douglas and wife, Patria, Logan Douglas, Mason Douglas and wife, Blair, and Douglas Blackmon and wife, Bethany; six great-grandchildren, Landon Nelson, Karigan and Trinity Douglas, Zale Dodd, Brianna and Slade Emfinger; and her four-legged companion Sissy.
