Tournament basketball time is upon us as teams get set to make a run in the state playoffs. Local fans will have plenty of action to watch as West Lincoln hosts the Region 7-2A tournament and Wesson hosts the Region 7-3A tournament.

Brookhaven will travel to Natchez to play in the Region 6-5A Tournament, starting Tuesday.

The Bogue Chitto Bobcats will also be on the road Tuesday as they visit Jackson to participate in the Region 7-1A tournament at the Mississippi School of the Deaf and Blind.

Lawrence County will travel to McComb for Region 6-4A tournament action at McComb High School.

In MAIS action, Brookhaven Academy will host the State AAA Tournament. The teams involved in the tournament are ACCS, Columbia Academy, Natchez Cathedral, Simpson Academy, Silliman Institute and Bowling Green.

In Region 6-5A,  the Brookhaven Panthers finished No. 3 and will play No. 2 Wingfield Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Panthers are seeded No. 4 and will play Tuesday at 7 p.m. against the No. 1 Natchez Lady Bulldogs.

In Region 7-1A,  the Bogue Chitto Lady Cats are seeded No. 1 and play Thursday in the Championship game against the winner of the Salem and MSD girls. The Bobcats are scheduled to play Tuesday in the opening round against MSD at 7:30 p.m.

In Region 7-2A,  the Loyd Star Lady Hornets and the Bassfield Yellowjackets are seeded No. 1 in the tournament. The Amite County Lady Trojans and the Prentiss Bulldogs are the No. 2 seeded teams. These teams have earned an opening round bye and will start action Thursday.

The West Lincoln Bears and Lady Bears finished third and fourth in the region and will play Tuesday in the opening round. The Bears battle the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Bears take on the Lady Bulldogs at 7 p.m.

Enterprise finished fifth in girls’ and sixth in boys’ play. The Lady Jackets will face the Bassfield Lady Yellowjackets at 4 p.m. and the Jackets take on the Loyd Star Hornets at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

In Region 7-3A, Jefferson County earned the No. 1 seed in the girls’ and boys’ bracket. The Hazlehurst Indians and the Port Gibson Lady Blue Wave finished as the No. 2 seeds. All four teams have received a bye in the opening round and will start action Thursday

The Wesson Lady Cobras will kick off tournament action Tuesday at 4 p.m. against the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs. At 5:30, the Franklin County Bulldogs battle the Wilkinson County Wildcats. At 7 p.m., the Lady Wildcats take on the Lady Indians. In the final game at 8:30 p.m., the Cobras tangle with the Blue Wave.

In Region 6-4A,  the South Pike Lady Eagles and the McComb Tigers will be seeded No. 1 in the tournament. The Lawrence County Cougars and the Florence Lady Eagles are seeded No. 2 and earned an opening round bye and will start action Thursday.

The Lawrence County Lady Cougars and the North Pike girls’ and boys’ teams will be in action Tuesday to kick off the tournament in McComb.
