BA soccer falls to Copiah, beats Oak Forest

The Brookhaven Academy boys’ soccer team lost a fierce battle Monday night against rival Copiah Academy 4-2.
The Cougars struck first when Keegan Smith scored off a header on a corner kick from Peyton Smith.
Copiah scored two goals before the end of the first half to take a 2-1 lead into halftime. Goalie JT Cline made several clutch saves to keep the game close.
In the second half, the Colonels extended their lead with two more goals, but BA rallied to close the gap at 4-2 on a late goal from Bryce White.
In the JV game, the Cougars pulled out a 2-1 victory with the deciding goal coming with just seconds left in the game. Carson Rounsaville led BA with two goals. Gray Anding and Keegan Smith contributed with an assist each.
In Friday’s results, Brookhaven Academy beat the Oak Forest Yellow Jackets.
Trailing Oak Forest 1-0 at halftime, the Cougars finally got on the board with 10 minutes left to tie the game up. Bryce White scored the tying goal with an assist from Nic Cizner to force overtime.
In overtime, both teams battled in a penalty kick shootout to decide the winner. BA won the shootout 4-2. Scoring in the shootout for the Cougars were Grayson Devito, Nic Cizner, Bryce White, and Carson Rounsaville. Goalie JT Cline had two stops in the shutout.
BA will resume action Thursday for Senior Night at home against Natchez Cathedral.
