Community supports local food pantries

More than $5,000 has been distributed to five local groups who help the less fortunate here in Brookhaven.

The Holiday Food Pantry Drive, a joint effort of the Bank of Brookhaven and The Daily Leader, accepted donations from people just like you. Those donations will now benefit Greater Hope Foundation, St. Francis Assisi/St. Vincent DePaul, Union Hall Baptist Church, St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and Bethel AME Church, which all have food pantries as part of their outreach efforts.

We can’t say “thank you” enough to the individuals and businesses who donated to the effort, which is now in its 12th year. We also want to thank Bank of Brookhaven for spearheading this project and setting up an account for the donations.
