Panthers clobber Terry; Lady Panthers fall

TERRY – The undefeated Brookhaven Panthers (8-0) knocked off the Terry Bulldogs 77-52 Tuesday night in a non-divisional contest.
In the girls’ contest, the Lady Panthers fell to the Lady Bulldogs 49-25.
Brookhaven returns to action Friday as it travels to Monticello as the Panthers and Lady Panthers battle the Lawrence County Cougars. The varsity girls will tip off at 6 p.m., followed by the boys’ game at 7:30 p.m.

Brookhaven held a slight 11-10 advantage at the end of the first, and turned up the heat on Bulldogs to carry a 39-25 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Brookhaven continued to hammer the Bulldogs, putting together a 20-13 run in the third quarter and a 18-14 run in the fourth period to collect the win.
Damarius Brooks pumped in a game-high 21 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Panthers. Darrian Wilson chipped in with 16 points and had four rebounds. Lazorian McNulty netted 15 points. Shon Blackwell contributed 13 points. Darius Bryant provided six points and was the leader on the boards with seven rebounds. Danarius Gray scored four points and Lafollette Bogan had two points.
Lady Bulldogs 49, Lady Panthers 25
In the opening period, the Lady Panthers and the Lady Bulldogs fought close with Terry leading 12-11.
In the second through fourth quarters, the Lady Bulldogs put together a 37-14 run to secure the victory.
Mya Washington was the top scorer for the Lady Panthers with six points and three rebounds. Asia Byrd contributed four points. Cheyenne Motley, Jada Henderson, Cynphoni Thompson, Arnancy Arnold, Taylor Carter and Miyah Miller scored two points each.
Jada Henderson was the leader on the boards for the Lady Panthers with seven rebounds. Cheyenne Motley grabbed five rebounds. Tamia Stallings had four rebounds.
