Loring John Smith Sr.

Funeral services for Loring John Smith Sr. was held Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at 7 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home with burial at Biloxi National Cemetery on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at 9 a.m. 

Visitation was from 5 p.m. until the time of services. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith, 85, of Ocean Springs, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015.

Brother Loring served in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years, retiring in 1974 as a Senior Master Sergeant. After retirement from the military, he taught history in the Ocean Springs School System for seven years. He later taught office skills at the Job Corps in Gulfport. Brother Loring also taught Sunday school for many years at Springhill Baptist Church. Brother Loring loved nothing better than being with his beloved family and friends. His spirit continues to inspire us all from Heaven where he lives with God forever.
Brother Loring is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Cochran and Gordon Smith; his wife, Barbara; his sons, Jeff and James; and his grandchildren, Johnny, Barbara and Francis.
Survivors are his sister, Virginia Burt; his daughters, Carol (Kim) Kilpatrick and Marian Smith; his son, John (Martha) Smith; his grandchildren, Micah, Sonia, Rosemary, Adam, Jason, Emily, Angela, Adrianne, Amanda, Brandon, Jeni, Randy, Carolyn and Gracie; and many great-grandchildren.
