Lady Cougars defeat Tri-County

FLORA – The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars (3-1) are riding a two-game winning streak after knocking off Tri-County Academy 40-32 in Saturday’s MAIS basketball action.
Brookhaven Academy will be in action today as it travels to Amite to take on the Amite School Center Rebels for four games starting at 4 p.m.

The Lady Cougars and the Lady Rebels battled in a close, low-scoring contest in the first half as BA carried a 14-11 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Lady Cougars put together a 26-21 run in the final two quarters to secure the win.
Edie Riley was the top scorer for the Lady Cougars with 12 points. Kailyn Jordan chipped in with 11 points and three rebounds. Anna-Michael Smith was the leader on the boards with seven rebounds and she scored six points. Sophie Wilson also had six points. Sissy Byrd provided five points and six rebounds.
Leta McCuelough paced the Lady Rebels with 13 points. Mackenzie Jones netted eight points. Mary Hayden Williams scored six points and Caroline Bennett had five points.
In junior high action, the Lady Rebel defeated the Lady Cougars 25-22.
Julianna Bartram was the top scorer for the Lady Cougars with 11 points. Cassie White scored nine points.
In the boys’ contest, the BA Cougars thumped the Tri-County Rebels 43-19. Dawson Flowers powered the Cougars with 18 points. Cade Brown chipped in with 15 points.
