A Lawrence County man is dead after being found disoriented in a field in Silver Creek and taken to the Lawrence County jail Tuesday night.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the office received a call from a Silver Creek resident who stated he had located a white male subject in his field, appearing to be disoriented. Deputies responded and found 47-year-old Steven Hartzog indeed disoriented and he was then transported to the jail.
While in the custody of the LCSO, family members visited with Hartzog. After, the family advised that they wanted a doctor to evaluate him. While waiting on the doctor, Hartzog became unresponsive and an ambulance was called. He was transported to Lawrence County Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The Lawrence County coroner has ordered an autopsy.
