Bogue Chitto (1-7, 1-3), coached by Gareth Sartin, returned to the gridiron last week and suffered a tough 46-8 loss to the Lumberton Panthers at Troy Smith Field.
This week, the Bobcats will travel to Pascagoula to take on the undefeated Resurrection Catholic Eagles in Region 4-1A action.
The Eagles (7-0, 3-0), coached by Scott Sisson, blanked the Sacred Heart Crusaders 31-0 last Friday.
Senior running back Dillan Jolly powered the Eagles rushing attack last Friday with 12 carries for 111 yards. Blake Porter completed 4-of-7 passes for 67 yards. Patrick Roth was the top receiver with three catches for 39 yards.
Renzell Johnson directed the Eagles’ defense with 12 tackles. Steven Demetropoulos had 10 tackles.
BC’s top offensive performer against Lumberton was Connor Douglas. He completed 8-of-17 passes for 92 yards and five interceptions. Douglas also rushed for 72 yards on 17 carries. Kobe Roberts provided 14 carries for 46 yards and Sherman Jackson helped with nine carries for 44 yards.
Dee Dillon was the top receiver for BC with four catches for 61 yards. Roberts had three catches for 31 yards.
Defensively, Kobe Roberts led the Bobcats with five tackles. Terrance Morgan provided four tackles. Kolby Hart, Trey Nettles, Tanner Gunther and Douglas had two tackles each. LaFredrick Dillon intercepted a pass.
Last year, Resurrection soared past Bogue Chitto 69-8.
My prediction: Resurrection wins 48-8.
