BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats kicked off the first round of the Class 1A state playoffs with a bang as they clobbered the Nanih Waiya Lady Warriors 20-0 in Game One and 21-1 in Game Two to collect a quick sweep and advance to the next round.

“Glad to get the wins to advance to the next round,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “They girls did a great job tonight hitting the ball. Nanih Waiya has a good team, but they are currently rebuilding this season. Overall, I was very pleased with our efforts both offensive and defensively.”

The Lady Cats will be on the road Saturday as they will play Ethel in the second round of the playoffs. Game One begins at 2 p.m.

BC 20, Nanih Waiya 0 

The Lady Cats came out on fire in Game One as they hammered the Lady Warriors in the first inning with a 11-run surge and continued their offensive onslaught in the second with a nine-run explosion to earn a win in a three-inning contest.

Brooke Myers was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with two strikeouts and no walks.

Alex Bell suffered the loss for the Lady Warriors with no strikeouts and four walks.

Alana Nettles sparked the Lady Cats at the plate with a triple and two singles. Christian Black fueled the flames with a double and two singles. Baileigh Jackson and Karley Leake provided three singles each. Zariah Matthews, Terrah Nelson and Myers contributed two singles apiece. Hitting safely were Reagan Kirkland and Codi Leggett.

Bell was the only hitter to reach base for the Lady Warriors with a single.

BC 21, Nanih Waiya 1 

In Game Two, the Lady Cats continued their hitting clinic as they captured an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, before blasting the Lady Warriors 19-1 in the third and fourth innings to complete the sweep.

Myers earned the win on the mound for BC with no strikeouts and no walks.

Hope Thames took the loss on the rubber for Nanih Waiya with no strikeouts and six walks.

Black powered the Lady Cats’ offense with home run, a double and two singles. Codi Leggett continued the surge with a triple and a single. Nettles, Kirkland, Nelson, Leake and Myers ripped a pair of singles each. Cherie Savoie and Jackson hit safely.

The Lady Warriors were led at the plate by Hope Thames, Ashley Thames, Bre Tabby and Lexy Bush with a single each.
