Wesson tangles with Port Gibson

Wesson (3-4, 0-1), coached by Ronald Greer, took on the undefeated Hazlehurst Indians last week and lost 30-0 in the opening round of the Region 7-3A race at McDaniel Stadium.
This week, the Cobras are finally home after a two-week road tour to host a new division opponent, the Port Gibson Blue Waves.
The Blue Waves (1-6, 0-1), coached by Trevor Porter, lost 14-0 last week to the Jefferson County Tigers.
Wesson’s top offensive performer last week against Hazlehurst was Jamarcus Patterson with six carries for 21 yards. Peyton Burns completed 2-of-9 passes for 20 yards.
Cornelius Barlow provided 13 rushes for 11 yards and completed one pass for 65 all-purpose yards.
Defensively, Justin Hynum led the Cobras with 10 tackles and a sack. Jamarcus Patterson and Bobby Pritchard both had nine stops and one sack each. Cornelius Barlow and Jeremiah Stapleton contributed six tackles apiece.
My prediction: The Cobras will prevail 28-20.
