Loyd Star Hornets visit Scott Central Rebels

Loyd Star (2-2), led by second-year head coach Adam Cook, battled a very tough Franklin County team last week, falling to the Bulldogs 34-0 at William E. “Sambo” Smith Field.
This week, the Hornets are preparing for a tough road test as they visit Forest to battle the Scott Central Rebels.
The Rebels (3-1), coached by Mickey Bounds, lost a close contest 21-20 last week to the Florence Eagles.
Tomez Holifield powered the Rebels’ rushing attack last week with 14 carries for 177 yards. TJ Wash led the passing attack, completing 7-of-10 passes for 92 yards.
Darrion Goss directed the Rebels’ defense with 11 tackles.
Loyd Star’s top offensive performer last week against Franklin County was junior quarterback Parker Flowers. He completed 5-of-17 passes for 46 yards and rushed 64 yards on 14 carries.
Lakein Wallace was the top receiver with three catches for 26 yards and Michael Harvey caught a pass for 15 yards.
Defensively, Flowers paced the Hornets with 11 tackles. Lakin Wallace contributed six stops and had a fumble recovery. Nicholas Smith also had six tackles.
My prediction: This should be a evenly matched contest, but home field advantage will help the Rebels to a 28-14 win.
