The Jimmy Furlow Senior Citizen Center is preparing for its fourth annual talent show this month.
On Sept. 24 at 11 a.m., seniors from across Lincoln County will gather to see the best of the area.
“They like to get up and sing and dance,” Director Kail Garrett said.
She said over the years they have had all kinds of presentations. Every year line dancers and round dancers perform, and there are always several singers. She said some like to model fashion. One year, she said they had a praise and worship dance team that was a lot of fun, and they did a skit with a police office one year.
She said the senior center gives older people the opportunity to stay connected to the community.
“It just helps seniors know to get out and socialize,” she said. “I’ve had several people say that if they didn’t come here they would just sit at home.”
She said right now they have about 10 people signed up. She asked that those interested in performing to call or stop by to sign up so they can be prepared for the talents.
