Loyd Star welcomes Sacred Heart to Sambo Smith Field

Loyd Star (1-1), led by second-year head coach Adam Cook, suffered a tough 27-21 loss to the McLaurin Tigers last week.
This week, the Hornets return home to host the Sacred Heart Crusaders.
The Crusaders, coached by Lonny Schraeder, edged the West Lincoln Bears 18-14 last week in Hattiesburg. Sacred Heart finished the game with 213 yards of total offense against West Lincoln.
Loyd Star’s top offensive performer last week was senior running back Javion Beard with 14 carries for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Freshmen wide receiver James Beard returned a punt 73 yards for a touchdown.
Defensively, Parker Flowers directed the Hornets with 12 tackles. Konner Allen and Braden Ezell provided 10 stops each. Anfernee Claire contributed nine tackles
