MEADVILLE – Franklin County’s Deion Buckles kicked off the Bulldogs’ jamboree in style.

The Franklin High defensive back intercepted a pass and raced 91 yards to pay dirt to put the icing on the cake as the Bulldogs won 21-0 over Crystal Springs Friday evening inside Louie Mullins Memorial Stadium.

Franklin County’s stingy defense set the tone early and often as Marquis Hunt, Chris O’Quinn and Dominique White aided the Dawgs with a sack each.

O’Quinn, a senior linebacker, led all hitters with six tackles, four QB hurries and a sack.

On offense, FC’s quarterback Jacob McDaniel scored on a two-yard plunge, while running back Cortney Smith added an 18-yard scamper for a score.

Smith finished with 10 carries for 61 yards. Junior De’Martre Collins collected 65 all-purpose yards.

Coached by Anthony Hart, the Bulldogs clicked on both sides of the ball against a young but athletic Crystal Springs team.

Franklin County will host their season opener Friday night as they prepare to entertain the Ole Brook Panthers. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
