Jewell ‘Betty’ Keen Hill

Funeral services for Jewell “Betty” Keen Hill of Meadville are 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Providence Baptist Church in Meadville with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday, June 19, 2015, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the church. She will also lie in state from 9 until 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Mrs. Hill, 93, died Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Meadville Convalescent Home. She was born on May 17, 1922 to James Usher Keen and Essie Elizabeth Roberts Keen.

She was a homemaker and a member of Providence Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for 58 years. She was a member of Franklin County Extension Service along with receiving a 20-year service award to Brookhaven Academy and basketball scholarship from Perkinston Community College and Mississippi College.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, J.M. Hill Jr.; brothers, Reginald Keen, Frank Keen, Karl Keen, Dudley Keen, Jake Keen and Hilton Keen; sister, Dorothy Keen; and great-granddaughter, Ramsey Kaye Hill.

Survivors are sons, Barney Dale Hill and wife, Debbie and Gerald Richard “Rickey” Hill and wife, Debra; daughter, Elizabeth Jane “Liz” Hill Brown and husband, Winston; 10 grandchildren, Nay Brown Thornhill and husband, Tim, Winky Brown and wife, Tracy, Brenda Brown Orr and husband, Troy, Joey Brown, Blake Brown, Angie Hill Kent and husband, Chris, Mark Hill and wife, Dana, Stan Hill and wife, Allan, Malisa Hill Small and husband, Gary and Amy Hill Wilson and husband, Mitch; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
