Box office wars: The search for profits

Profit: 1 (noun) the main goal of any entertainment production company, 2 (geek) what no true geek is worried about at all, when it comes to the treatment of their fandom.
We know there are a ton of movies releasing between now and 2018’s new “Avengers: Infinity Wars,” but I’m not as excited about each of them the same as the next. So here is my “Top three reasons I’m going to the movies from now until 2018” list.
1. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
In an effort to scrub away the foul taste in geeks’ mouths known as “JarJarvitis,” Disney has hung their wish on this Star Wars movie to pump more life into, and money out of, this oh so hallowed universe. I had my trepidations early on, but now that we have our first full trailer out, I simply cannot wait to throw my money at Disney so hard it hits an exhaust port on the Epcot center blowing it sky high.
2. Captain America: Civil War
(Sing Along) Spider-Man. Spider-Man. Making movies where he can. With Marvel, or Sony, he just makes, more money. Hey theeeeere! Welcome back Spider-Man!
Yes indeed, the Wall-Crawling Prodigal Son has returned… along with most of the cast of Avengers: Age of Ultron. This is shaping up to be more an Avergers 2.5 than a stand-alone Cap film. Not that I’m complaining.
3. Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Can lightning strike the same geeks twice? We’ll find out in 2016 when Star Lord, I man Groot and Rocket, blast back onto the screen with their Firefly formula of bad guys do good things bad ways. Always a thrill ride, and bit more silly and mindless than some of its other Marvel brethren.
Yes, fanboys and girls, I hear you. There is Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, etc. What about them?
Short answer: I’ve never cared for them. Just sayin’.
Besides, I’m a graphic designer and part-time writer. These two things mean I watch very few movies.
Until next payday, class dismissed.
