Lady Cats takes Game One from Nanih Waiya

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats captured a big 4-0 win over the Nanih Waiya Lady Warriors Tuesday night in game one of the best of three series in Class 1A state softball playoff action.

The Lady Cats, coached by Scott Leggett, were looking to wrap up the series Wednesday as they traveled to Nanih Waiya to take on the Lady Warriors for game two and if necessary game three.

Bogue Chitto suffered two tough losses in Nanih Waiya Wednesday falling to the Lady Warriors 5-4 in game two and lost a close nail bitter in game three 3-2.

The Lady Cats conclude the season with a 14-11 record overall and finished tied for first place in Region 7-1A action with a 5-1 record.

Bogue Chitto 4, Nanih Waiya 0 

The Lady Cats came out and quickly set the tone of the contest in the bottom of the first inning as they pushed two runs across the plate to secure an early 2-0 lead.

BC relied on the strong arm of Christian Black and great defensive pressure to keep the Lady Warriors off the scoreboard in a seven-inning contest.

Bogue Chitto scored one run each in the bottom of the third and sixth innings to extend their lead to 4-0 and held on for the win.

Black dominated the pitching circle for the Lady Cats as she gave up allow two hits in the shutout, while collecting 12 strikeouts and had three walks.

Terrah Nelson was the offensive leader at the plate for BC with a double. Hitting safely was Zariah Matthews and Black.
