Lay Jaguars crush Northeast Lauderdale

MERIDIAN – The North Pike Lady Jaguars crushed the Northeast Lauderdale Lady Trojans 14-1 Monday night to clinch Game One of the best of three series in the Class 4A state softball playoff action.
The Lady Jags (14-9), coached by Sonya Wallace, will be in action today as they host the Lady Trojans for Game Two and Game Three, if necessary. Game time is set to start at 5 p.m., if weather permits.

The Lady Jaguars came out and dominated the Lady Trojans in the first three innings of action to claim an early 9-0 lead.
An RBI single by Madison Bigner during the first inning and a two-run triple by Jami Spears, an RBI single by Sarah Brock and a RBI triple by Madison Bigner helped Lady Jaguars put some runs on the board early.
Sarah Brock boosted her batting average thanks to a perfect 4-4 day at the plate to pace Lady Jaguars with four singles.
Madison Bigner provided an impressive outing against Northeast Lauderdale’s lineup. She gave up only one run on one hit, with two strikeouts and no walks in five innings of work.
Bigner helped power the Lady Jags offensive attack at the plate with a triple and two singles. Baylee Bryant and Jenna Brock provided two singles apiece. Jami Spears ripped a triple. Jordan Fitzgerald and Rickera Martin contributed a double each.
