The Brookhaven School District will soon see a handful of personnel changes, including a new deputy superintendent.
Stephanie Henderson, currently serving as deputy superintendent, has decided to step down. In a special meeting Friday, the school board approved to hire Rod Henderson, current Alexander Junior High School principal, as the new deputy superintendent.
Superintendent Ben Cox said the school district has a long history with Rod Henderson.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know him better,” he said.
Clay Whittington, director of bands, turned in his resignation after he accepted a position at Southwest Mississippi Community College.
“It’s been a pleasure to work with him,” Cox said. “We appreciate all the hard work he has done for the band program, and he will be missed.”
The board also approved the hiring of Nancy Wallace as director of technology. She comes to the district with 12 years experience as a kindergarten through 12th grade technology coordinator. She has also directed hospital systems and worked as a computer science college instructor.
Cox said the district will begin searching for both Whittington’s and Henderson’s replacements immediately.
