Flashes escape BC with win

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats could wrap up the series sweep against the St. Aloysius Flashes Friday night. The Flashes ended up escaping Stan Long Field with a 5-3 win over the Bobcats in Region 7-1A baseball action.
The Bobcats (6-3, 1-1) returns to action Tuesday as they visit Brookhaven to take on the Ole Brook Panthers. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.
St. Aloysius 5, Bogue Chitto 3
The Bobcats entered into Friday’s night contest looking to sweep the Flashes of Vicksburg, but St. Aloysius came out strong in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.
Bogue Chitto rallied back to keep the game close and they score a run in the fourth and fifth innings as the Flashes lead 3-2.
St. Aloysius managed to increase their lead in the top of the seventh inning by scoring two runs to have a 5-2 advantage over BC.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Bobcats managed to put together a small rally as they pushed across one run to cut St. Al’s lead down to 5-3, but fell to continued the rally as the Flashes prevailed.
Steven Ginn suffered the setback on the mound for Bogue Chitto with five strikeouts and three walks.
Josh Brown pitched the win for the Flashes with four strikeouts and three walks.
Tucker Lambert paced the Bobcats at the plate with four singles. Nick Parker contributed a double and a single. Brooks Ingles provided two singles. Hitting safely were Steven Ginn, Bo Smithers and Brandon McKenzie.
