Enterprise knocks off Bassfield

The Enterprise Yellow Jackets knocked off the Bassfield Yellowjackets 21-9 Friday night to complete the series sweep in Region 7-2A action.
“We didn’t play our best game, but we hit the ball better tonight,” said Enterprise coach Cass Brister. “Or defense is not where it needs to be, but we found a way to get the win. Overall, the guys played hard, but we need to regroup quickly as we get ready for Loyd Star next week.”
The Jackets (7-5, 4-0) visit their Lincoln County/Region rivals, the Loyd Star Hornets, Tuesday for another big division test. Junior varsity action begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.
Enterprise 21, Bassfield 9
The Enterprise Jackets came out and dominated Bassfield in the first three innings of action to claim a 7-0 lead.
The top of the fourth inning, Bassfield battle back into the contest with a five-run surge to cut down Enterprise’s lead to 7-5.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Enterprise answered with a five-run blast of their own to push their lead back out to 12-5.
In the top of the fifth inning, Bassfield fought back and scored four more runs, but Enterprise overpowered Bassfield in the bottom half of the fifth inning with nine run explosion to win the contest in five innings.
Josh Hardin was the winning pitcher for Enterprise with four strikeouts and five walks.
Hunter Richardson powered Enterprise’s offense with two doubles. Brady Watts contributed a double and a single. Tanner Waldrop and Reese Brocato provided a pair of singles each. Marvin Butler had a double. Hitting safely were Landon Gartman, Layne Brown, Zach Hodges and Josh Hardin.
