Lady Cats sink Mt. Olive Lady Pirates

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats swept a varsity doubleheader from the Mount Olive Lady Pirates to gain two big Region 7-1A victories in Thursday night fastpitch softball action.
BC clobbered the Lady Pirates 17-0 in the first game and again in the second game, winning 21-0.
The Lady Cats will be in action today, if weather permits, as they prepare to host the Loyd Star Lady Hornets. Junior varsity action is set to begin at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.
Bogue Chitto 17, Mt. Olive 0
The Lady Cats of Bogue Chitto sunk the Lady Pirates of Mount Olive in the first game of the evening by the score of 17-0 in three innings.
The Lady Cats had Christian Black on the mound for the first game. Blacks strong pitching performance kept the Lady Pirates guessing as they could not even get close to the softball through out the game.
Offensively, BC was able to get their bats going early and often throughout the game as everyone had hits on the team. The Lady Cats played a flawless game both offensively and defensively.
Black was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with a perfect game no hitter performance. Nine batters for the Lady Pirates came up to the plate and Black retired them to the dugouts with all strikeouts.
In the first inning, Zariah Matthews got on base with a walk. Zariah stole second, third, and home to score. Daley Roberts laid down a great bunt for an on base single. Alana Nettles got a big ground ball out to left field to score Daley making the score 2-0. Terrah Nelson hit a single to left field scoring another run.
The Lady Pirates walked the heavy hitter Christian Black. Mallory Allen was next up to the plate and the pitcher gave her a pitch to where she can get some contact on it as she hit a stand up double to left field to score Christian Black. The Lady Cats would end the bottom of the first inning leading 10-0 over Mt. Olive.
In the second inning, Coach Leggett would call on his junior varsity girls to finish out the game. T’Asia Black started off with a base hit out to left field. Payton Barron kept the ball rolling with a base hit toward the shortstop, which landed in left field. BC pushed seven runs across the plate to increase their lead to 17-0 in two innings of work
Nelson was the top hitter for BC with a triple and a single. Nettles contributed two doubles. Mallory Allen ripped a double. Hitting safely were Daley Roberts, Codi Leggett, T’Asia Black, Colby Kirkland and Peyton Barron
The losing pitcher for the Lady Pirates was M. Kye with one strikeout and nine walks.
Lady Cats 21, Lady Pirates 0
In the second game the Lady Cats almost had a mirror image from the first game as Coach Leggett called on Codi Leggett to take the mound to lead the charge defensively for the Lady Cats.
The Lady Cats varsity girls batted around once in the first inning and then called on the junior varsity girls to finish the game. Codi Leggett pitched a great game defensively. Offensively, the Lady Cats played a great game.
Nelson directed BC’s offensive charge in Game Two with two doubles. Cherie Savoie contributed a triple and a double. Codi Leggett provided a double and a single. Colby Kirkland and Matthews had two singles each. Stevie Montgomery, Karly Leake, Roberts and Nettles hit safely.
