Bassfield eludes Enterprise

BASSFIELD – The Enterprise Yellow Jackets opened up district play on the road Friday night as they dropped a pair of varsity basketball games to the Bassfield Yellow Jackets.
In the varsity girls’ game, Bassfield used a huge fourth quarter rally to upend Enterprise 48-44.
In the varsity boys’ game, fans witnessed much of the same as the Bassfield boys surged past Enterprise 68-31 after a dominant fourth quarter performance.
Enterprise returns to action on Tuesday night as they travel to Liberty to meet the Amite County Trojans. Junior varsity action tips off at 5 pm followed by a pair of varsity games.
Bassfield 48, Enterprise 44
The varsity girls’ contest provided a nail biter for the fans in attendance. The visiting Lady Jackets came out on fire in the first quarter as Enterprise led 20-5 at the end of one quarter.
Bassfield and Enterprise battled throughout the second quarter as Enterprise was able to hold off Bassfield and maintain a 15-point margin at halftime.
Courtney Greer led Enterprise with 13 points, five rebounds and four steals. Alissa Barlow, Megan Rippy and Michelle Herrington added six points apiece for the Lady Jackets. Carlee Nations dished out five assists for Enterprise on the night.
In the second half, Bassfield began to claw their way back into the game as they cut the margin to nine points after three quarters of action.
The fourth quarter belonged to Bassfield as they outscored Enterprise 24-11 in the final frame to squeak out the 48-44 victory in the end.
Derria White led Bassfield in the win with 20 points.
Bassfield 68, Enterprise 31
In the varsity boys’ game, Bassfield came out with a quick start in the first quarter to claim a 10-4 advantage after the first eight minutes.
Enterprise (9-8, 0-1) responded in the second quarter as they cut into the Bassfield lead but still trailed at intermission by a slim 22-18 margin.
Dwayne Pendleton pumped in 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Enterprise.
In the third quarter, Enterprise started off hot as they claimed the lead on several different occasions throughout the quarter. However, Bassfield began to take charge as they closed the third quarter on a run that would put them up for good.
Bassfield led 39-28 after the third quarter and finished the game by outscoring Enterprise 29-3 in the fourth quarter on their way to the win.
Racheeem Boothe powered Bassfield with 26 points.
