Wesson clobbers Sumrall

SUMRALL – The Wesson Cobras visit Sumrall Friday night to face the Sumrall Bobcats in high school basketball action.
In the girls contest, the Lady Cobras defeated the Sumrall Lady Bobcats with a final score of 48-36.
In the boys contest, the Cobras upset the Bobcats 61-47.
WESSON 48, SUMRALL 36
Carnesha Green led the offense for the Lady Cobras with a total of 16 points. The Lady Cobras were 13/24 in free throws. Top scorer for the Lady Bobcats was A. Watts with 11 points. Sumrall was 5/15 in free throws.
Coach Rusty Newman stated, “The girls shot the ball well and executed well in offense and defense. I’m proud of the girls and it’s good to get back in the winning column.”
WESSON 61, SUMRALL 47
Anthony Jones led the cobras with 17 points with Dartavious Dixon following close behind with a point total of 16, which included 3 three-pointers. The Cobras were 13/17 in free throws. Sumrall top scorer was A. Green with 18 points. The Bobcats were 4/6 in free throws.
Coach Rusty Newman reflected on the win by stating, “It was a physical game. The guys played will in spurts but it was enough to get the win. I’m proud of the guys for their effort.”
