Lincoln County mid-term election results are in and the Republican Party took the lead.
With the help of Lincoln County, Thad Cochran and Greg Harper are back in office for another term. The right-to-hunt amendment was overwhelming popular in Lincoln County.
Ballots were cast in the area with out a hitch Tuesday.
“The election went very smoothly thanks to poll workers and all parties involved,” said Lincoln County Circuit Clerk Dustin Bairfield. “Overall it was a very successful election with very few complaints.”
Bairfield said the turnout was relatively high with a 7,525 ballots cast, (36.35 percent of the registered voters) and only five voters showed up with no identification. He added that those ballots will not be counted at this time. They will be held aside for five business days for voters to show the circuit clerk’s office their identification.
Nationally, the Mississippi winners contributed to the Republican party taking control of both the Senate and retaining House of Representatives .
