Booster members recognized at board meeting

The Brookhaven School District Board of Directors met Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The meeting was kicked off with an a capella musical set performed by Brookhaven School Elementary and led by music teacher, Mrs. Joy E. Johnson.
The board also recognized the efforts of the districts booster clubs. President Emily Springfield and Treasurer Amy Summers represented the Gridiron Booster. President Celine Craig represented the Cross Country Booster. President David Culpepper represented the BHS Girl’s Softball Booster. President Bryan Phillips accepted recognition for the BHS Band Booster. Vice President Stacey Walker accepted recognition for the Cheer Booster.
Also, the work of Clay Whittington’s with the Brookhaven High School Band was recognized. The Band was recently deemed All Superior Band. The superintendent was also invited to participate in the Brookhaven City Christmas Parade set to take place on Thursday Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.
The board also approved their consent agenda:
• Approved JROTC to sell Fan Cloth items and Krispy Kreme doughnuts as fundraisers.
• Approved Lipsey PTA Christmas Ornament fundraiser.
• Approved BHS Soccer fundraisers to sell t-shirts, sweats, run concession for pee wee football and conduct a fish fry
• Approved Baseball program to sell old jerseys as a fundraiser.
• Approved donation of $25,000 from KDMC to go toward purchase of a new scoreboard at the football field.
• Approved donation of $3,330, from the PTA, to purchase 10 laptops for classroom use in Brookhaven Elementary School.
• Approved donation of $3,000 from Silver Cross Foundation to Lipsey for the Dare Program.
• Approved four student transfers into the district and one transfer out of the district.
• Approved 2014-2015 District Test Security Plan.
• Approved financial reports for the month of September.
• Approved construction change order regarding the construction project of the BHS gym.
• Approved construction change order regarding the construction project of reproofing phase two.
• Approved personnel decisions.
