It’s all Geek to me

My definition of a Geek: (noun) A person who’s affection for a particular subject surpasses common boundaries of normality.
The geek of olden times (see My Day) was someone of usually less than desirable physical prowess, more than average mental faculties, and usually traveled in packs.
I was one of these.
I say “was” with a bit of a giggle because not much has changed except age.
Yes indeed, many are the fond memories of doodling ThunderCat logos on my book covers, and having hushed conversations with friends about the latest Nintendo games. It was a secret society that no one wanted to admit they were in.
But, as time progressed, I discovered that I was not alone in my interests, only in my willingness to share my feelings about them.
Case in point: a particularly buff and leathery walking meat stack with hair gave me a very hard time about my geekdom, and led the other like minded Neanderthals in a rousing game of “Lets Point Out Your Flaws” only to call me that very night with questions about the second dungeon in The Legend of Zelda video game.
I was shocked!! Mr. Buff McLargehuge played video games!? At last!! He was the mountain climber seeking wisdom, and I was the game guru at the top!!
I politely gave him the wrong answer to his question and hung up.
JUSTICE!!
Skip to present day, and here I am. A gamer. A comic collector. An SEC football nut. A cartoonist. A Christian. A husband. A father. A tax payer. And still, at my core, a geek.
Geekdom is everywhere. Please, allow me educate you in the ways of this world.
This is Geek Speak 101. Class dismissed.
