WESSON – Copiah-Lincoln Community College head softball coach Allen Kent has announced that his team will host a fastpitch softball alumni game during homecoming activities on Saturday, Oct. 11.
The game will be held at the softball field on the Wesson campus. Lunch and registration will begin at the Lady Wolves softball field, starting at 11:00 a.m. The game will begin at approximately 11:45 a.m.
Cost per participant will be $15, which includes a t-shirt and lunch. Former players need to RSVP with Coach Kent for t-shirt sizes. RSVP deadline for t-shirt printing is Oct. 4.
A signup sheet can be found on colinathletics.com under the softball tab. Former coaches Johnny Williams and Rob Channell and current assistant Duane Burt will be in attendance. Co-Lin has been playing fastpitch softball for 15 years.
“We are really excited about this,” said Kent, who is beginning his 13th year as head coach. “Many great friendships were made through softball. It’s an opportunity to get together and rekindle some of those relationships, while still being able to have some fun on the field. We’re aware that some girls may have old injuries, etc. that may keep them from playing. However, we hope that those who don’t wish to actually play will still come for the fellowship.”
“There have been some tremendous athletes come through the program, as Co-Lin Softball has enjoyed plenty of success. We’re looking forward to getting them back on campus. Hopefully it can develop into annual event,” said Kent.
