Josh Devonte Mcclendon, 21, of Dixie Road, was arrested Tuesday afternoon for statutory rape of a 15-year-old girl.

Brookhaven Police Chief Bobby Bell said the victim’s father reported McClendon and his daughter had sexual relations multiple times. Bell said several statements were taken, and the location of the act was confirmed, which was enough to arrest McClendon.

Statutory rape is a felony and, if the perpetrator is 21 or older and is convicted, it is punishable by up to 30 years in prison and/or a fine up to $10,000 according to Mississippi Code 97-3-65.
