Lady Bears win tournament

The West Lincoln Lady Bears remain undefeated on the season as they successfully defended their home turf in Saturday’s softball action.
West Lincoln hosted a softball tournament Saturday and managed to win three games. The Lady Bears beat the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs 9-3 in the opener, blanked the Brookhaven Lady Panthers 4-0 in the second game and knocked off the Bogue Chitto Lady Cats 3-1 in the finale.
The Lady Bears (9-0) will return to action Tuesday as they prepare to host the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.

West Lincoln quickly jumped on Franklin County to grab a 6-2 advantage in three innings before the Lady Bulldogs scored the final run in the fourth inning.
The Lady Bears continued to increase their lead in the fourth and fifth inning to secure a 9-3 lead and held on for the win.
Addie Spring was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bears with one strikeout and one walk.
Shelly Case suffered the loss for Franklin County with no walks or strikeouts.
Hanna Moak powered West Lincoln’s offense with a home run and two singles. Micah Redd and Millane Lewis continued the onslaught with a double and a single each. Alli Mullins and Makennah Redd contributed a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Layton Sills and Peyton White.
Alyssa Case and Emilee Wallace were the top hitters at the plate for Franklin County with a home run each. Nuda Starks, Shelly Case, Sierra Bethley and Hailey McDaniels hit safely.

Makennah Redd pitched the win in game two for West Lincoln collecting one strikeout and allowing two walks.
Rileigh Allen absorbed the setback for the Lady Panthers with no strikeouts and no walks.
Hanna Moak continued her strong hitting streak to lead the Lady Bears at the plate with a home run. Sills ripped a double and a single. Mullins had two singles. Anna Brooke Davis hit a double. Brianna Fauver, Millane Lewis and Makennah Redd hit safely.
Fallon Brooks paced the Lady Panthers’ offense with a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Haley Speaks, Katherine Shell, Julianna Porter and Tia Bussey.

Brooke Myers suffered the setback for the Lady Cats with no strikeouts and one walk.
West Lincoln was led at the plate with a single each from Moak, Fauver, Lewis, Redd, Sills, White and Springs.
Karly Leake and Reagan Kirkland powered BC’s offense with a pair of singles. Christian Black and Alana Nettles hit safely.
