Georgia-Pacific Monticello presented a grant of $10,000 to the Lawrence County Hospital, part of the company’s ongoing commitment to safety and strengthening quality of life in the local community.

This grant will go toward implementing a Community Health Assessment Needs program, which will include health screenings for the community and include heart, lung and stroke screenings.

Lawrence County Hospital administrator Semmes Ross and Norman Price, CEO of Southwest Health Systems, accepted the check for the hospital.

“These screenings will be offered monthly through our clinic at a discounted fee to the community,” said Ross. “These low-cost screenings are an affordable way to recommend health services and information to the community. Routine health checks can help find problems early, when the chances for treatment and a cure are better.

“This grant from Georgia-Pacific will greatly supplement this program and will be a great benefit to the citizens of Lawrence County.”

Georgia-Pacific’s Monticello Containerboard mill produces linerboard in various grades and weights for domestic and export box plants.
