Funeral services for Clell Leon King, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014, at First Baptist Church with burial in Riverwood Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday, May 22, 2014, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive. Visitation will resume at the church on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Mr. King, 92, died May 19, 2014, at his residence. He was born on March 11, 1922, in Lawrence County to Elish and Maggie Ballard King.

He was retired from the Mississippi Highway Patrol with 27 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force having served during World War II. He was on the first Honor Flight of Mississippi. Mr. King was an active member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, a Mason, and a member of the Greatest Generation Coffee Club in Brookhaven.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Ina Mae King; his brother, Dewey King; and his sister, Tear Griffith.

Survivors are his two sons, Cleo King and Donnie L. King, both of Brookhaven; one daughter, Anita King Grafe, of Moss Point; seven grandchildren, John Grafe Jr., Holly Lee, Carrie Grafe, Corey L. King, Jenna Lee King, Valarie Oglesby, Donnie L. King, Jr., eight great-grandchildren, Allyson Lee, Emily Lee, Joshua Lee, Drew Granger, Kolby Oglesby, Madalyn Oglesby, Sasha King and Samuel Mason King; three brothers, Arthur King, Elzen King and Carl King; two sisters, Ruth Smith and Lola Faye Douglas, all of Lawrence County; and numerous nieces and nephews.
