Parents can rest easy; summer rec gearing up

As school days draw to a close and youthful energy abounds around the house all day, it’s not easy to keep the kids busy. Parents can put their minds at ease though, the Brookhaven Recreation Department is gearing up for summer activities and has plenty to keep the kids entertained.
The department is offering a wide variety of classes, workshops and sports that the entire family can enjoy. Activities include:
• Summer Gymnastics – one-week session, June 16-20, for age 3 and up
• Summer Youth Art – one-week session – girls’ session is June 2-6 and boys’ session is June 16-20, for first through sixth graders.
• Summer Youth Tennis Lessons – One-week session, June 2, 9, 16 and 23, for age 8 and up.
• Youth Dance Workshop – two sessions, June 23-26 and July 28-31, for age 4 and up.
• Youth Ballet Workshop – one-week session, July 7-10, for age 4 through 7.
• Summer Cheer Tumble – tot cheer in June, and in May, June and July for age 4 and up.
• Spray Parks – opened May 1 at City Park, Bicentennial Park and Bethel Park from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Closes Sept. 1.
• Boys Bootcamp – one-week session, June 16-20, for boys ages 5-9.
• Youth and Adult Clogging – Monday nights for age 4 and up.
• Martial Arts Classes – Tuesdays and Thursdays for girls and boys age 7 and up. Register by calling 601-757-7788.
• Science Camp – one-week session, June 9-13, for age kindergarten through sixth grade.
• Adult Art Workshop – Thursday night in June.
