Funeral services for Sarah Elizabeth “Betty” Brown Reid Smith of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014, at Riverwood Family Funeral Services with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Thursday, May 15, 2014, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Services.
Mrs. Smith, 86, went to be with her Lord on May 14, 2014. She was born on Feb. 5, 1928, to Pence Wilson Brown and Ola Brown Brown.
Mrs. Smith worked for the Brookhaven Housing Authority and then was Lincoln County circuit clerk for more than 20 years. She was a member of First Assembly of God and loved photography and singing for the church and the Lord.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Felder Reid and Alton Smith; two brothers, Hilton and Hansel Brown; and sister, Margaret Brown.
Survivors are her son, Felder Monroe Reid “Ruth” of Brookhaven; daughter, Jocelyn A. High of Richardson, Texas; one step-daughter, Janice Anding of Brookhaven; one step-son, Alton Denny Smith “Sherry” of Seneca, South Carolina; two brothers, Hulon P. Brown “Irene” of Bogue Chitto and Robert Brown “Marilyn,” also of Bogue Chitto; four sisters, Katie Boyd of Odessa, Texas, June Ballard of Birmingham, Alabama, Ella Rose Jordan of Brookhaven and Charlotte Matthews of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Stephen Reid “Brandy,” Felicia Smith “Jamie,” Jason Anding “Staci,” Jessica Anding, Lisa Paysen “Eric,” Christy Garrett “Tyler” and Tracy Chastain “Brent”; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Also the family would like to thank the special caregivers at Haven Hall Nursing Home.
