Blue Devils blank Ole Brook

CARRIERE – The Pearl River Blue Devils handed the Brookhaven Panthers a 5-0 loss Tuesday night to clinch first place in Region 6-5A baseball action.

The Panthers, coached by Randy Springs, are currently in second place and have qualified for the state playoffs.

The Panthers used three different pitchers in their loss to Pearl River Central. Scotty Bateman (1K, 2BB), Reed Jones (1K, 1BB) and Myles Tipton (3K, 1BB) saw action on the mound for Ole Brook.

Chance Putnam was the winning pitcher for the Blue Devils with nine strikeouts and three walks.

Nick Kesler recorded the only hit for the Panthers at the plate with a single.

Wesley Mitchell powered Pearl River Central’s offense with a double and a single. Dylan Spiers contributed two singles. Hitting safely were Christian Travis, Jeshua Lee and Putnam.
