Loyd Star destroys Amite Co. twice

LIBERTY – The Loyd Star Hornets traveled to Liberty Friday night and destroyed the Amite County Trojans 20-0 and 15-0 to secure two big Region 7-2A wins in baseball action.

The Hornets had no trouble Friday night as they stormed Liberty to drill the Trojans 15-0 in three innings of work in Game Two.
Loyd Star quickly jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first inning and increased their lead to 14 in the second inning, before pushing across their final run across the plate in the third inning to end the game on the 15-run mercy rule.
Peyton Flowers pitched the victory for the Hornets as he struck out four batters and did not give up a walk in the no hit shutout.
Mario Bonds was the losing pitcher for Amite County with no strikeouts and five walks.
Hayden Brownlee and Dorian Beard powered Loyd Star’s offense with two singles apiece. Caleb Yarborough, Seth Farmer, Peyton Flowers, Levi Redd and Brett Calcote ripped a double each.

Caleb Yarborough’s (5K, 0BB) and Levi Redd’s (1K, 1BB) combined effort helped the Hornets claim a huge district win in Game One with a no hitter performance on the mound.
Kevin Williams absorbed the loss for the Trojans with one strikeout and eight walks.
Farmer was the top hitter for the Hornets with a triple and a single. Calcote and Yarborough contributed a double and a single. Redd provided two singles. Parker Flowers had a double. Hitting safely were Dustin Hart, Peyton Flowers, Konner Allen, Brownlee and Beard.
