Lady Cats secures two wins in tourney

The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats captured a pair of victories in Loyd Star’s Tournament Saturday.
The Lady Cats defeated Salem 8-3 and edged Brookhaven 5-4 in eight innings.
The Lady Cats (16-5, 6-0) will be in action Monday as they host the West Lincoln Lady Bears. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.
Bogue Chitto 8, Salem 3
Alana Nettles was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with seven strikeouts and four walks.
Rachel Bond took the loss with four strikeouts and no walks.
Christian Black powered BC’s offense with three singles. Zariah Matthews, Kary Leake and Nettles ripped a pair of singles. Terrah Nelson provided a triple. Cherie Savoie had a double. Reagan Kirkland and Katie Brumfield hit safely.
Bond was the top hitter for the Lady Wildcats with a triple and a single. Darrion Dykes had a double.
Bogue Chitto 5, Brookhaven 4
Black tossed the victory for the Lady Cats, collecting five strikeouts and had three walks.
Katherine absorbed the setback for the Lady Panther with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Black continued her hot hitting streak with three singles. Jackson, Matthews and Kirkland hit safely.
Katie Grace Culpepper, Tia Bussey and Haley Speaks were the top hitters for Brookhaven with a single apiece.
