Panthers fall twice in Saturday doubleheader

SUMMIT – The Brookhaven Panthers suffered two heartbreaking losses in last Saturday’s baseball action.
The Panthers were shut out 7-0 by North Pike in Game One and fell to Callaway 7-2 in Game Two of the doubleheader.
North Pike 7, Brookhaven 0
North Pike’s Ben Coney pitched the shut out victory collecting one strikeouts and allowed only one walk.
Myles Tipton absorbed the setback for the Panthers with one strikeout and one walk.
Garrett Smith, Scotty Bateman, Reed Jones and Tipton were the top hitters at the plate for Ole Brook with a single apiece.
Austin Smith powered the Jaguar’s offense with two doubles. Patrick Roberts contributed a double and a single. Brantley Hughes ripped a pair of singles. Reed Taylor and Hayes Thompson had a double each. Hitting safely were Dallas Smith, Dusty Brock and Ladarrius Coney.
Callaway 7, Brookhaven 2
Penn Wilson suffered the setback for the Panthers on the mound collecting 10 strikeouts and walked two batters. Nick Keesler (0K, 0BB) pitched in relief.
Wilson paced Ole Brook’s offense at the plate with a double. Jones and Tipton hit safely.
