Bobcats knock off Flashes

BOGUE CHITTO – Senior Brock Roberts brought his “A” game on the mound for Bogue Chitto Tuesday night as the Bobcats won a close one 7-5 over the St. Aloysius Flashes in Region 4-1A action.
Bogue Chitto will be back in action Friday night as they travel to Vicksburg to take on St. Aloysius. The Flashes and Bobcats will tangle again starting at 5 p.m. with junior varsity action and varsity to follow.

The Bobcats and the Flashes had a hard fought game to excite the crowd on a chilly evening for baseball.
Bogue Chitto came out strong in the first two innings by putting the bat on the ball. Landon and Brock Roberts both got on base with errors by the St. Al fielders. Brooks Ingles got a base hit to load the bases for the Bobcats with no outs. Steve Ginn got a double to send three runners home. The Bobcats defense held the flashes to zero runs.
In the third inning, Dereck Dolan got a base hit to bring in one run for the Flashes. Brock Roberts would strikeout Ben Welp for the last out to end the inning. In the second half of the ballgame the Bobcats could not hit anything. The Flashes defense was able to hold the Bobcats to zero runs.
The Flashes was able to add another run in the fourth inning. In the fifth inning, Rudy Brumfield for the Bobcats missed a short fly ball to allow St. Al to add two more runs to their score to only be down by three runs.
In the sixth inning, the Flashes added one more run to their score. In the seventh inning, Brock Roberts came up big with two strikeouts to end the ballgame. The Bobcats were victorious over the Flashes 7-5.
Offensively for the Bobcats, Steven Ginn and Tucker Lambert both had doubles. Brock and Landon Roberts, Brooks Ingles, and Joey Elliot all contributed with singles.
Offensively for the Flashes, Lane Hynum and Connor Smith both had doubles. Dereck Dolan had two singles and George Tzotzalas had a single as well.
In JV action, the Bobcats beat the Flashes 8-0. The winning pitcher for the Bobcats was Taylor McKenzie. Bo Smithers had two singles. Rudy Brumfield, Cameron Price, Dennis Rogers, and Taylor McKenzie all had singles.
