Madison St. Joe eliminates FC in soccer playoffs

RIDGELAND – Taylor Healey scored two goals to lead her Madison St. Joseph Lady Bruins to a 5-0 win over the FC Lady Bulldogs Thursday night in the first round of Class 3A/2A/1A playoffs.

In the boys’ game, St. Joe won 1-0 in a double overtime shootout.

The FC girls (18-2) absorbed their second lost of the season off some quick and agile plays from the Lady Bruins.

St. Joseph’s took a 2-0 lead into halftime and added three more goals for good insurance in the second half.

Coached by Jeff Long and Stephanie McCormick, the Lady Bulldogs end the season Region 6 champions.

The FC boys (19-2) clawed to a scoreless standstill after regulation and two overtime periods.
