WESSON – The Dexter Bulldogs and Wesson Lady Cobras captured a split in Saturday’s basketball action at the Snake Pitt
The Lady Cobras won a nail-biter 47-45 game against the Lady Bulldogs.
In the boys’ game, the Wesson Cobras outplayed the Bulldogs for most of the game but lost a heartbreaker in overtime 72-66.
“We did not have any intensity tonight,” Wesson coach Rusty Newman said. “Dexter killed us on the boards and just out-hustled us all the way around. As bad as we played, we still had opportunities to get the win, but we missed too many free throws and lay-ups down the stretch.
“Dexter took the momentum into overtime and got the win. We just need to play better on a consistent basis.”
The Cobras play at home Tuesday night against Puckett. Junior varsity games start at 5 p.m. Varsity teams begin play at 6 p.m. for the girls and 7:30 for the boys at the Wesson gymnasium.
