West Lincoln clobbers Dexter

TYLERTOWN – The West Lincoln Bears managed to climb back into the win column with a 74-60 win over the host Dexter Bulldogs in basketball action Saturday in Dexter’s Holiday Tournament.

The Bears (12-3) will be action Tuesday as they prepare for a rematch against the Cobras at the Snake Pit. The boys’ games is scheduled to start at 7:30 or at the conclusion of the girls’ game.

West Lincoln 74, Dexter 60 

The Bears and Bulldogs renewed their tough rivalry as West Lincoln came out strong to set the tone of the contest with a 26-9 run in the opening quarter.

The Bulldogs fought back in the second quarter by outscoring the Bears in 16-14, but West Lincoln commanded a 40-25 lead at the half.

In the second half, Dexter and West Lincoln provided an offensive show for their basketball fans as both teams traded baskets. The Bulldogs managed to overpower the Bears in the third quarter 16-13.

In the fourth quarter, West Lincoln recovered and put together a nice scoring run and toppled the Bulldogs 21-19 in the final frame to secure the win.

The Bears had four players to scores in double figures as junior guard Duane Marshall led the pace with a team-high double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds. Keshaun London chipped in 16 points and had eight rebounds. Ronnie Edwards and Sam Bivens contributed 12 points apiece. Bivens also helped on the boards with 10 rebounds.

Clifford Fernandez pumped in a game-high 24 points to lead the Bulldogs. Kendarius Lenoir helped with 12 points.
