West Lincoln’s boys and Loyd Star’s girls won junior high games Monday night at Jack Case Gymnasium.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Hornets squeaked out a 29-28 win over the Lady Bears. Loyd Star led 17-16 at halftime. Katie West was the leading scorer for the Lady Hornets with 21 points. Megan Gerald led West Lincoln with eight points.

The Bears jumped out to an 11-0 lead at the beginning of the game and roared to a 38-23 win over Loyd Star. Adam Martinez led the way for West Lincoln with 13 points, while LeDarrius Jones chipped in nine points. Loyd Star was paced by Dane Gregory Smith’s nine points.

Loyd Star swept a pair of seventh grade games from West Lincoln. The Lady Hornets rolled to a 23-10 win, while the Hornets cruised to a 31-20 victory.

West Lincoln’s junior high teams return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Wesson beginning at 4 p.m.
