Emma Lorene Averett Klutts

Graveside services for Emma Lorene Averett Klutts, of Natchez, are 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Natchez City Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service of Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Klutts died Nov. 30, 2013, following an extended illness. She was born in Aquilla, Alabama on November 26, 1919. She was the last of 12 children born to John and Amon Lorene Cupp Averett.

When she was a child, the Averett family moved to Hattiesburg, where she graduated from high school. She attended Mississippi Southern College, and there she met Paul Linwood Klutts whom she married on July 8, 1939. Paul and Lorene celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary this past July.

She was a loving mother of four children, a dedicated homemaker, an outstanding cook and a world traveler. Her hobbies included fishing down on the bayou and gardening. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Pilgrimage Garden Club.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul L. Klutts, and son-in-law, John Robertson.

She is survived by her four children, Paul Klutts and wife, Kristen, Kay Wineman and husband, Don, Susan Spann and husband, Frank, and Carole Robertson; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
