Bogue Chitto fumbles away region title

STRINGER – The Stringer Red Devils defeated the Bogue Chitto Bobcats 52-24 Friday night in Region 4-1A action as the game determined the No. 1 and No. 2 seed in the district.
In the first quarter, Stringer scored first at the 9:38 mark when Mason Avary plowed in a two-yard run. Cade Hinton’s kick was good.
The Stringer defense stood strong on the next series and made the Bobcats turn the ball over on downs.
The Bobcats’ defense returned the favor and stood strong to make the Red Devils punt the ball away at the 5:18 mark. The Stringer defense held once again and forced Bogue Chitto to punt the football at the 2:47 mark.
Strong special team play set up the Bobcats offense in good field position. After the blocked punt, Brock Roberts scored on a 12-yard run at the 1:14 mark. Cameron Prick’s kick was good. At the end of the first quarter, the score was tied 7-7.
In the second quarter, Stringer added seven more points to the scoreboard when Tevin Moore connected with Devyn Stinger on a 19-yard pass at the 11:04 mark. Cade Hinton’s kick was good.
Stringer’s defense forced the Bobcats to punt the football at the 9:18 mark of the quarter. The Bobcat defense caused Stringer turn the ball over on downs, but the Red Devils attempted a fake punt that failed at the 7:31 mark of the quarter.
BC’s Jermaine Blackwell caught a big 42-yard screen pass from Brock Roberts to tie the ballgame at 14 all. Cameron Price’s kick was good.
The Bobcats’ defense kept the Red Devils’ offense out of the end zone, and Stringer was forced to kick a field goal. Stringer’s Cade Hinton kicked a 29-yard field goal at the 3:16 mark of the quarter.
The Red Devil defense held the Bobcats out of the end zone, forcing the Bobcats to kick a field goal. Cameron Price kicked a 36-yard field goal for the Bobcats at the 00:30 mark of the quarter. The Stringer Red Devils then kneeled the football to go in the locker room with both team tied 17-all at halftime
In third quarter, the Bobcats came out and scored first when Dennis Rogers caught 19-yard pass from Brock Roberts at the 8:55 mark. Cameron Price’s kick was good.
Both teams traded a series of punts throughout third quarter. Stringer quarterback Tevin Moore was able to tie the football game up when he scored on a four-yard run at the 1:16 mark of the quarter. Cade Hinton kick was good.
On BC’s next drive, the Bobcats made a costly mistake that would cost them ballgame. BC fumbled the football, and Stringer recovered it at the 2.6-second mark of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Stringer added to their score when Moore scored on a 24-yard run at the 11:11 mark of the quarter. Cade Hinton’s kick was good.
Bogue Chitto, plagued with turnover fever, fumbled the football again and set the Red Devils up in good field position.
Stringer scored again when Moore connected with Mason Avary on a 30-yard reception at the 9:49 mark of the quarter. Cade Hinton’s kick was good.
At the 7:30 mark, the Bobcats turned the ball over, and Stringer was able to increase their lead. Stringer scored when Lorenzo Crosby ran for 80 yards for a touchdown at the 6:36 mark. Cade Hinton’s kick was good.
Stringer scored again Will Hill scored on a 30-yard run at the 3:09 mark of the quarter. Cade Hinton’s kick was good.
Offensively for the Bobcats, Jermaine Blackwell had 10 carries for 36 yards. Brock Roberts rushed 14 times for 95 yards and one touchdown.
Roberts had 11 completions on 28 attempts for 202 yards and two touchdowns.
Dennis Rogers was the top receiver for BC with three catches for 64 yards and a touchdown. Justin Click provided three catches for 43 yards. Damein Terrell caught three passes for 34 yards. Jermaine Blackwell had one catch for 43 yards and a touchdown. Eli Holmes had one catch for 18 yards.
Defensively, Jeremy Blackwell led Bogue Chitto with 14 tackles. Jermaine Blackwell had 10 stops. Seth Hodges and Davaris Bullock both had six tackles apiece.
Both teams will be playing at home next week for the first round of playoffs. Stringer hosts Nanih Waiya, and the Bobcats entertain French Camp at Troy Smith Field.
