Henry Ford Young, 89, of Summit died May 31, 2013 at his residence.
Visitation will be Sunday at Jones Funeral Home from 1 until services there at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery, with Dr. Larry LeBlanc officiating.
Mr. Young was born Nov. 3, 1923 in Fernwood to the late Jesse O. and Emma Porter Young.
He was a member of First Baptist Church Summit. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in World War II. He was retired from Fernwood Cresote Plant. Mr. Young loved to tell stories about his time in the service and also his job. After his retirement, he loved to garden and work in his yard.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geraldine Kyzar Young; two sons-in-law, Marc C. Slaton and Robert L. Posey; a daughter-in-law, Diane F. Young; a grandson, Curtis L. Posey; four brothers, Willie, Troy, Luther and J.W. Young; five sisters, Maggie Lloyd, Velma Mitchell, Ollie Mabry, Marie Magee and Tennie Young.
Survivors include two sons, James Young of Florence, Glenn Young and his wife, Ann, of Brookhaven, two daughters, Patsy Posey of Summit, Lynne Ezell and her husband of Summit, 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and his special friends and neighbors on Pine Cone Lane in Summit.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church Summit Building Fund.
