WESSON – The Brookhaven Academy Cougars finished runners-up in the MAIS Class AA South State Golf Tournament at the Wolf Hollow Golf Club. They were led by match medalist Jacob Ross. The Cougars shot a 337 to finished 24 strokes behind champion Lamar School of Meridian.

Simpson Academy was third at 348, followed by Centreville at 383 and Silliman Institute at 407.

Walker Whitehead of Lamar was runner-up to Ross with a 2-under par 70 and teammate Will Whitehead was third at 278. Jake Berry of Simpson was fourth at 78.

Also scoring for BA were Trent May at 84, Colby Culbertson at 91, Olivia Ross at 92, Tyler Thornhill 93 and Zach Thornhill 134.

Brookhaven Academy will host the Class AA State Tournament on Tuesday, May 7.7.
