“The girls and I are excited to be able to make another state tournament appearance,” continued Terrell. “It is a huge accomplishment to get to this part of the playoffs.

“This is our third year in a row,” Terrell continued. “The girls played extremely well Monday, Thursday and Friday to ensure a spot to the Big House. I’m pleased with my team and proud of them. They hustle, play hard and are a fun group to coach.”

The Lady Bulldogs (22-6), coached by Bruce Baker, will also be in action Friday at 1 p.m. against Ashland, the North runner-up.

Hinds AHS 69, Bogue Chitto 52

Bogue Chitto and Hinds AHS basketball fans witnessed another tough, physical bout between the two Class 1A heavyweights.

Senior guard Adrienne Wallace directed the Lady Cats’ charge with 15 points. Mattie Avants and Earlnesheia Dillon contributed 11 points apiece.

“Hinds got hot in the second quarter and shot the ball really well,” said Terrell. “We missed some free throws down the stretch that could have helped cut into the deficit. Hinds has athletic players that play well. Overall, My girls played hard and gave a great effort even though the game didn’t go the way we would have hoped,” stated Terrell.

The Lady Bulldogs had three players score in double-figures. Erica Harris was the offensive leader with 24 points. Adrienne Burks netted 16 points and Octavia Barnes had 10.
